We here at Bikeminded love cake. And of course we love to cycle. So we put our two favourite things together and designed the ultimate cake cruise of Kensington and Chelsea. We ran two tours that sold out in minutes, so clearly we are not the only ones who love cake and cycling.

To celebrate Halloween in 2011, residents came along on Bikeminded’s Ghost Tour where they cycled the streets of the Royal Borough discovering its haunted places and were spooked by tales of ghosts, apparitions and mean spectres from a team of professional storytellers.

Those blue plaques commemorating famous residents who lived and worked in the Royal Borough… you’ve noticed them. But have you ever wondered what went on behind those closed doors? We have,  so we worked with local partners to put together a Blue Plaque tour to find out. While riding a bike of course!

ALICE IN WONDERLAND TOUR

As part of the InTransit Festival in summer 2012, Bikeminded worked together with the Exquisite Folly Thetare to create our own version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland while riding a bike around the Royal Borough. This was one of our most popular projects and was even more fun as everybody who came along dressed up in costume. of their favourite character. Which though good fun, was slightly strange at times. For example, how many Mad Hatters have you seen riding a bike on High St Kensington?!

From the gritty post-war community of ‘The Blue Lamp’ to the 21st Century hub of ‘James Bond’, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has a fantastically rich post-war cinematic history and on this tour, visitors rode around the borough finding out more about what was the stories and locations behind the films connected to the Royal Borough.

From the London epicentre of punk on the Kings Road to Jimi Hendrix’s bedsit to chamber music which graced the royal palaces of William III, the Royal Borough also has a wonderfully broad history of music connections and so we worked together with local partners to create a magical musical mystery cycling tour so we could all learn more about it.
