Best Digital Campaign
We are delighted to announce that we were awarded the Best Digital Campaign of the Year at the recent London Cycling Awards.
As we entered our 4th Bikeminded year, it is wonderful to get such recognition and brilliant feedback. For more information about the awards night and other winners, please check our blog.
We would also like to thank all of you for your continued support. Cheers!
Cycling in the Royal Borough
Bikeminded is the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s campaign to promote cycling among its residents. Through a variety of campaigns and events, Bikeminded aims to get as many people cycling in the Royal Borough as possible.
There are 8,000 cyclists living and working in Kensington and Chelsea. And every year, the number seems to increase.
So what have we been doing?
The Council is working hard to improve conditions for cyclists. We have:
resurfaced and widened the Grand Union Canal towpath, the path alongside Holland Park and the path through Brompton Cemetery
opened more one-way streets to two-way cycling to help improve the cycle network
installed over 500 new cycle parking spaces
worked with Transport for London to provide 86 Barclays cycle hire docking stations (as of 13 December 2013) and a new cycle superhighway crossing Chelsea Bridge
MAYOR’S VISION FOR CYCLING IN LONDON
Here is a link to Mayor Boris Johnson’s ‘Vision for Cycling in London’ which was published in March 2013.
It stands for Cycle Awareness Raising and Marketing. And because we want to do our bit to reduce carbon emissions in the Borough, we’re taking part in this EU funded cycle project. We’re introducing targeted cycle campaigns along with five other likeminded EU cities: Riga, Budapest, Parma, Eindhoven and Goteborg.
With our roads getting congested and our public transport network running at capacity, we believe cycling offers a great opportunity to transport an ever-growing population.
For this reason, we’ve been working with residents, schools and people working in the Borough to support and encourage cycling.
The Bikeminded campaign started in 2010 and we’re continuing to create exciting projects with our residents and cycling partners to get as many people riding bicycles in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea as possible.
