Earth hour & bike ride

20/03/2019

Earth Hour  started as a symbolic lights out event in Sydney in 2007. Since then, WWF’s Earth Hour has grown to become the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment. It’s been more successful than ever imagined – inspiring individuals, communities, governments, businesses and organizations and reaching more than 180 countries and territories in 2018.

For Earth Hour in 2019, they are encouraging more engagement across different audiences to generate attention for the values of biodiversity and nature. They intend to unite people around the world to speak up why nature matters and to continue to raise awareness of the inter-connectivity of climate change with the benefits of nature and people.

Earth Hour 2019 on Saturday 30 March from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in your local time zone is an amazing opportunity for you to start changing the planet for the better! At 8:30pm switch your lights off for one hour!

We’d like to stress how much cycling can help to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to cleaner air, reducing our need to drive cars. We’d like to invite you to come along to this great ride organised by our friends IBikeLondon.

We are joining their fancy dress Earth Hour Ride on Saturday 30 March. Dress up as your favourite animal and saddle up to cycle across central London.

Saturday 30 March, from 5pm to 9pm
Meeting point: Southbank outside the National Theatre, SE1 9PX
You can find more details in their facebook page

What else can you do?
There are lots of things you can do to show your support on and around the hour.
