20mph Pilot Scheme proposal

The Royal Borough of Kesington and Chelsea know that many residents are concerned about the speed of traffic on their roads. In January 2018, Councillors voted unanimously to support a proposal to run a pilot 20mph speed limit scheme on a number of roads in the borough.

With this in mind, the Council selected streets and one specific area, which could benefit from a reduction in speeds, and on which, according to Government guidance, most drivers would be likely to follow a 20mph speed limit.

The Council would like to invite your views on their proposals before they decide whether to proceed in each of the streets and the area that they have identified. For more information, please check this website

Officers will report the results of the consultation exercise to Councillors and make recommendations regarding which streets, if any, should be made subject to a 20mph speed limit. Any such limits would be introduced using an experimental traffic order, for up to 18 months, from Spring 2019.
