Copenhagen Cycling Culture

27/09/2012

Cyclists often talk about the beautiful cycling-friendly streets of Copenhagen as a cyclists’ nirvana. What do you think? What do you know about Copenhagen and its cycling culture? Well, if you haven’t been yet, then worry not as Copenhagen is coming to you!

If you would like to learn more about this wonderful city and its positive relationship with cycling from Mikael Colville-Andersen, Denmark’s bicycle ambassador and creator of Copenhagenize  & Copenhagen Cycle Chic, then we have a couple of events coming up that you may find interesting.

At ‘Bikeminded’, we have been working in partnership with the Danish Embassy to host ‘Copenhagen Cycling Culture’ to raise awareness of the benefits of the cycling culture in Copenhagen and to discuss how that culture can be created in London and other cities.

To find out more about these events including the chance to win tickets to an exclusive sold-out talk by Mikael (his first in London!), then visit ‘Copenhagen Cycling Culture’.

As an urban mobility expert, Mikael travels the world giving keynote speeches, having meetings with national and municipal policymakers and advising cities and NGOs regarding infrastructure with a view to selling ‘bicycle culture’ and bicycle transport to a mainstream audience. The primary focus of Copenhagenize  is to ‘inspire regular citizens to consider the bicycle as transport, allowing individuals and cities to reap the many rewards of increased bicycle traffic’.

Although Mikael has visited London before, this will be the first time he will be giving a talk here and that is why it is a privilege for us at Bikeminded to be working with him and the Danish Embassy on the ‘Copenhagen Cycling Culture’ project. It’s a step forward for cycling in London and who knows, maybe in the future we’ll be able to replace the word Copenhagen in ‘Copenhagen Cycling Culture’ with London in an equally positive way!
