Shelter from the rain

01/11/2011

So a bit of rain doesn’t stop us getting on our bikes. Oh no, rain is just another of the joys of cycling. I mean, wouldn’t you rather be out in the rain than jammed in a stuffy, smelly tube with other wet people? Well we certainly would.

But we don’t want to arrive wet at work, and we want to remain our usual stylish selves, so could the answer be fashionable, but practical rain wear. Does it exist you ask? Well, yes it does, and we’ve hunted down some of the best.

Our friends at Cycle Chic have this gorgeous cape on their website, which retails for just £35. You can pop it over your outfit and it keeps every part of you (apart from your hands so best to get some good gloves) dry.

Or the rainwave. The is not made for cycling, but we think its very stylish and could be great for popping over our clothes when that downpour hits. These ones are slightly pricier at £45, but still pretty reasonable for something you’ll get a lot of wear out of in London.

And for the stylish gents? Well, you too can avoid the storm trouper look with this Norse Projects jacket which they stock at the Garbstore on Kensington Park Road. Its an update on the Danish Elka raincoat and at £170 is what we call ‘an investment piece’. Oh, and its 100% waterproof.

What about you, what are your tips on keeping dry?

The £35 Cycle Chic cape is also available in Navy blue, so not just for the ladies, and gents who dislike red.

What do you think?
