Last month we ran some light campaigns, trying to raise awareness amongst cyclists about the importance of using lights at night. It is certainly a safety issue, but also a legal issue. You have to, by law, have a front white light and rear red light.
We’ve noticed a fair few lightless folk out there recently so clearly our work is not yet done. So we’re trialling a new idea… giving out bunches of lights to generous cyclists who stop their lightless peers and give them a set of our lights. We’re calling them our Light Angels. If you’d like the chance to stop other cyclists and pass on some of our lights, then why not sign up to be a Light Angel? We’ll post you out 10 sets of lights to get you started. Just leave a comment below and we’ll get in touch.

Such an amazing idea – makes me cringe when I see people cycling with no lights. Especially when they are wearing dark coloured clothing. Some people have a complete disregard for their personal safety.

Given my current ranting level when I see people without them I’d love to help! Does it have to be in K&C though?

See many without lights. This would make my night time commute better for me and better for them.

I daily cycle between West End and Camden and invariably see cyclists without lights. Even in Regents Park where it is particularly dark. I always attempt to engage the cyclists. Being able to give them a set of lights would be very effective I reckon

It sounds like a great idea – I see more people without lights than with, and often speeding along dimly-lit pavements – I’d happily give out lights too …

who knew it was a legal requirement?! I, like many other cyclists, don’t run a front light but if someone passed me one on my ride I would definitely equip it…So count me in

I think this important issue…It is right to thrust it into the spotlight, and illuminate the problem for those still fumbling in the dark.

What a fantastic idea, I frequently see cyclists without lights – so now I can offer them something to lighten up their day.

I would love to be a Light Angels. What a good time to do it at Christmas. Angels were involved in bringing Good News even 2000 years ago….. Lets bring light to the world!

I was lucky enough to come across a Light Angel last night after my 3 year old lights were stolen in Dalston…so she really was an angel. Specially as two blocks later a copper was giving away tickets to those with no lights!
So I would be very happy to return the favour.
