Ghost Cycle Tour

Happy Halloween!  We hope you have some fun things planned for tonight. Last Thursday we held our own two wheeled Halloween celebration… a Ghost Cycle Tour. The tour was a sell out and we welcomed a group of 45 cyclists who chanced a terrible weather forecast to join our tour. Luckily the rain held off right until the end of the tour when as soon as we set off home the heavens opened… “spooky” some cyclists said.

We gathered in Redcliffe Square just as the sun was setting and had great fun preparing and decorating our bikes for the evening with some striking new light tubes. Before we set off, our head marshall Rupert Gardener gave us some excellent safety advice, stressing how important it is for cyclists to be visible in the dark. He suggested we make sure we have our bike lights with us now the nights are drawing in, and that we wear some reflective clothing.

Our actor for the tour, Ben Whitehead, weaved tales from around each of the stops into the main ghostly story that was unfolding during our journey. This story took us to the Thames, a mysterious mews street and finally to the park. It was wonderfully atmospheric to cycle through Kensington and Chelsea back streets and exciting to see all our bikes flashing in the dark.

The story continues in a mews street …

… and finishes in the park.

This one was the best decorated bike and dressed up cyclist. Well done Peter!

Best dressep up cyclist.

We had a fabulously frightening evening, and are already thinking about our tour for next Halloween. If you have any suggestions or comments we’d love to hear them, so please write them in the box below.
