Monday Madness: the Power of Making

Well, we count ourselves very lucky here at Bikeminded HQ to have been invited to the launch of the V&A’s Power of Making exhibition. It was very impressive. We rode along the back streets from our office to the V&A at lunch time to see what all the fuss was about.

The exhibition is a celebration of the role of making in our lives, with over 100 exquisitely crafted objects… including some pretty fancy bicycles. It’s worth the visit for the bicycles alone. And the giant gorilla made of coat hangers.

The V&A are running some special events as part of the exhibition, including a chance to make your own bespoke bicycle saddle on Saturday 15 October. We’ll be giving away one ticket to this sought after workshop over at the fantastic Notting Hill website soon so keep your eyes peeled for that competition.

Giveaway Alert: The exhibition is free and runs until 2 January, but the V&A have kindly gifted us with a beautifully crafted book about the exhibition to give away to someone from our Bikeminded community. Just let us know below what your ideal bicycle would be by leaving a comment in the box below. A winner will be selected on Monday 12 September.

My ideal bike would be one which had a sidecar to fit a dog in, but would be narrow enough to cycle around London. Probably not a physically possible dream!
