Meet the hero: Jonathan Lloyd

We’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Lloyd.  Jonathan is behind the superb Notting Hill Gate , Kings Road and Fulham Road websites…. and he’s also a bike hero.  He cleverly matched his Brompton bike to his logo, which also happens to match our street signs.

When you’re cycling around the borough, what is it that really captures the true spirit of Kensington and Chelsea?
The borough stretches right from the river Thames – capturing its nautical spirit – right up to Notting Hill and its edgier, arty spirit. In between you’ve got so many different pockets; King’s Road, Chelsea Green, Sloane Square, High Street Kensington, Kensington Church Street, Portobello and Westbourne Grove. I love all the creativity here; right across fashion, music, art, design, food and entertainment.

Who is YOUR bike hero?
Chris Hoy, for his gold medal haul in Beijing 2008. Incredible.

What is your first cycling memory?
I have lots of cycling memories but it has to be receiving my first bike complete with stabilisers. It was called “bullet” and was silver, red and black.

What do you think can be done to improve access to cycling around the borough?
Campaigns like this to raise awareness and events which bring likeminded people together. Secure spots to lock bikes too.

Who would be your dream partner on a tandem bike ride?
Mary Portas. Only because we’d talk about the high street, the web and future of our local communities.

If you could cycle in one other place, anywhere in the world, where would it be? Canada.

What is the one thing guaranteed to make you smile on your bike?
I’m always smiling!
